Ahead of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) matches at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the Ahmedabad Police have issued a detailed traffic advisory to ensure smooth movement and security.

Ahmedabad Police Commissioner G S Malik announced that traffic restrictions and diversions will be enforced on match days due to the large influx of spectators, VVIPs, and players.

A total of seven matches will be played in Ahmedabad, and the advisory will be applicable on April 4, 17, 20, 26, and 30, as well as May 3 and 12.

Restricted routes

On match days, the stretch from Janpath T-junction to Motera Stadium main gate, extending via Krupa Residency T-junction to Motera Gam T-junction, will remain closed for all types of vehicular traffic.

Alternate routes

To ease congestion, the police have suggested the following diversions:

From Tapovan Circle: Vehicles can take the ONGC crossroads via Visat T-junction towards Janpath, and proceed through Power House crossroads to Prabodh Raval Circle.

From Krupa Residency: Commuters can travel via Sharan Status crossroads, Bhat-Koteshwar Road, towards Apollo Circle.

Exemptions

The restrictions will not apply to authorised vehicles related to the matches, government duty vehicles, fire brigade, ambulance services, and residents living near the stadium. Residents have been advised to carry valid identification documents.

Authorities have urged cricket fans and commuters to follow the advisory to avoid inconvenience and ensure smooth traffic management during match days.
