Thunderstorms likely in Guj in next 24 hours: IMD
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain in Gujarat in the next 24 hours. This change in weather is due to two weather systems becoming active at the same time.
Regions of Kutch, Morbi, Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Botad may experience rain with thunderstorms on May 6. Ahmedabad may remain cloudy during the day.
Light to moderate rain predicted in 6 districts
According to IMD Director A K Das, light to moderate unseasonal rain with thunder is likely in parts of North Gujarat, Central Gujarat, South Gujarat, Saurashtra, and Kutch. The districts affected include Amreli, Bhavnagar, Botad, Morbi, Rajkot, and Kutch.
Dry weather expected after May 7
The department also said that most parts of the state will see dry weather from May 7 to May 12. At present, a cyclonic system is active over southwest Rajasthan, and winds are blowing from the southwest direction.
The highest temperature in the state was recorded in Rajkot at 42.3°C, while Ahmedabad recorded 39°C and Gandhinagar 38.5°C. There is no major change expected in temperature for the next three days, but after that, it may rise by 2 to 3 degrees in some areas.
Due to high temperature and increased humidity, North Gujarat, Saurashtra, Kutch, and South Gujarat are likely to experience hot and humid weather between May 9 and May 12. In Ahmedabad, the sky is expected to remain partly cloudy today, with the maximum temperature around 41°C.
