Three workers killed after power transmission pole collapses in Vadodara district

Three workers were killed after an electricity transmission pole collapsed during construction work in Bhavpura village of Vadodara district, police said.
According to preliminary information, the accident occurred while work was under way on power transmission lines and the pole reportedly gave way, trapping the workers.
Officials said the project involved the construction of a 765 KV Vadodara South-Olpad transmission line under a contract awarded by Power Grid.
The deceased workers were residents of West Bengal and had travelled to Gujarat for employment at the project site, officials said.
Sources said the contract for erecting the transmission towers and poles had been awarded to TLL Company.
Police and local authorities rushed to the spot after receiving information about the incident and launched rescue and recovery operations.
The bodies of the deceased workers have been recovered and sent for post-mortem examination.
Officials have initiated an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the accident and determine whether any lapse in safety procedures contributed to the tragedy.
Authorities associated with the project were present at the site, but no official statement on the cause of the accident was immediately available.
Further investigation is under way, police said.
