Three trapped as wall collapses near Ganesh pandal in Nava Naroda

Three people were trapped under debris after a wall collapsed near a Ganpati pandal on Nikol Road in Nava Naroda, close to Prasad Hospital, late on Wednesday night.

According to officials, the incident occurred around 9.50 pm when a portion of the wall adjoining the pandal gave way. Eyewitnesses said the victims, who had come to attend the festivities, were buried under the rubble.

The Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) were alerted and a 10-member team, reached the spot in two vehicles and launched a rescue operation. By the time the fire personnel arrived, local residents had already pulled out two of the injured and rushed them to hospital. The third person was extricated by the fire team.

Officials said all three victims were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their condition is yet to confirmed.

An AFES officer said, “We received a call around 10 pm regarding the collapse. Our team reached within minutes and carried out the rescue. The situation was quickly brought under control.”

Police said further inquiry was underway to ascertain the cause of the collapse.
