An Ahmedabad rural court has sentenced three men to one year of rigorous imprisonment in connection with a 2016 assault case in the Aslali area in which a youth was abused, beaten, and injured with sticks following a minor dispute.

The court also imposed a fine of ₹500 on each of the convicted accused, Jagdish Thakor, Anil Thakor, and Sunil Thakor.

The case had originally been registered at Aslali Police Station against four accused, including Udaji Thakor, who died during the course of the trial.

According to case details, the incident occurred in 2016 when the complainant was on his way to attend the Anand Mela in the Aslali area.

During the incident, the accused – Jagdish Thakor – allegedly obstructed the complainant’s path with a motorcycle.

When the complainant objected and reportedly asked him to drive carefully, Jagdish Thakor allegedly began abusing him.

The complainant objected to the verbal abuse, following which the other accused, Anil, Udaji and Sunil Thakor, allegedly arrived at the scene and joined the assault.

The accused allegedly attacked the complainant with sticks, causing injuries to his head, and also threatened to kill him if he was seen in the area again.

During the trial, the prosecution examined eight witnesses and produced five documentary pieces of evidence before the court.

After considering the evidence, the Ahmedabad Rural Magistrate Court held the three surviving accused guilty and sentenced them to one year of rigorous imprisonment.
