Three new police stations approved in Ahmedabad amid expansion of city limits

In a move to strengthen law enforcement in line with the city’s rapid expansion, the Gujarat government has approved the establishment of three new police stations in Ahmedabad: Motera, Vastral and Hanspura.

The decision comes as part of a broader restructuring within the police department to address the growing population and geographical spread of the city. The Home department has issued an official notification in this regard, with implementation expected in the coming days.

With increasing workload and emerging urban challenges, authorities had earlier announced the creation of a new DCP Zone-8 to improve policing efficiency.

Under the revised structure, Zone-8 will include police stations such as Nikol, Vastral, Vatva, Vatva GIDC and Ramol. Additionally, two new divisions will be created, and new Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) will be appointed to oversee operations.

Officials said staffing for the new police stations will be drawn from existing units, with further expansion planned based on requirements.

The move is expected to enhance response time, improve law and order management, and ensure better coverage across newly developed areas of the city.
