Three NDPS cases registered in 24 hours in Gujarat

The State Monitoring Cell (SMC) police station, which was started with special powers in January 2025, has unearthed 12 major NDPS (Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) cases in just four months.
In these cases, 25 drug peddlers have been arrested, from whom drugs worth ₹4.14 crore have been seized. This also includes two foreign (Nigerian) accused.
On Sunday, three NDPS cases were filed by the SMC police station team in Juhapura (Ahmedabad), Mehsana and Surat city.
Gujarat State Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi said, “These decisive steps of the Gujarat government further accelerate the goal of making the state drug-free. Not even a single gram of drug should be found in the state. The SMC team has done a brilliant job of keeping an eye on the drug trafficking that has escaped the notice of the local police and reaching out to the mafia. This fight will continue in the future.”
It is noteworthy that earlier the SMC used to work on cases like liquor, gambling and cricket betting. But, the SMC has been set up as a separate police station and given special responsibility to control organized crime, which also includes arresting drug trafficking.
Based on this directive, the SMC has intensified investigations to reach out to the drug mafia, as a result of which this remarkable success has been achieved.
