Three key Ahmedabad overbridges will take 7 months to be ready for commuters

Commuters in Ahmedabad can expect relief from traffic congestion by mid-2026, as work on three important overbridges — the Makarba Railway Overbridge, the Hebatpur Railway Overbridge and the Sattadhar Flyover — is likely to take seven months for the final stages of construction.
According to officials, all three structures are progressing steadily, with completion timelines fixed between February and June 2026.
The Makarba–Torrent Power railway overbridge, where the design was recently revised, has reached 93% completion on the approach portion. The bridge spans 636.89 metres with a width of 16.40 metres, connecting Makarba to Corporate Road and SG Highway.
With a project cost of ₹80.63 crore, all foundation, substructure and pier-cap work in the railway portion has been completed. Around 65% of railway-section work is finished, and the entire bridge is expected to be ready by March 2026.
Once operational, nearly 1.5 lakh daily commuters in Makarba, Sarkhej and Corporate Road areas will benefit from smoother traffic flow.
Work on the Hebatpur railway overbridge, connecting Thaltej to the Hebatpur–Sola Science City stretch, is also moving fast. The 679-metre-long, 16.50-metre-wide four-lane bridge carries a project cost of ₹74.15 crore. All foundation, substructure and superstructure work is complete, with 85% progress on the approach and 73% on the railway section. The bridge is targeted for completion by June 2026, promising relief to around 1.5 lakh commuters in Thaltej, Hebatpur and Science City.
Reviewing the city’s ongoing bridge works during the Standing Committee meeting, chairman Devang Dani shared that construction of the 975-metre-long, four-lane Sattadhar flyover has also reached an advanced stage. With a project cost of ₹103.63 crore, the foundation, substructure and major portions of the superstructure are complete.
Deck slab and remaining superstructure work on the Chandkheda side is currently underway, taking total physical progress to 85%. The flyover is expected to be operational by February 2026, easing traffic for residents of Ghatlodia, Sola, Thaltej and Chandkheda.
