Three boys drown in Sarkhej lake, search on for others

Tragedy struck Sarkhej on Monday evening after a group of boys allegedly ventured into Shakari Lake, where at least three are feared to have drowned.
According to the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES), a call was received around 5.45 pm about boys drowning in the lake. Two rescue vehicles along with boats were immediately dispatched from Prahladnagar fire station.
“Four people, including a child, had gone into the lake for fishing on a wooden raft. When it sank, three of them drowned while the child was saved by locals. After a three-hour continuous operation, our team was able to recover the bodies from the lake,” said Manu Solanki, fire station officer, Prahladnagar.
The deceased have been identified as Jeet Dilipbhai Parmar (17), Vishal Kishorebhai Solanki (18-20) and Pappu Manubhai Chavda (18-20), all residents of Gayatri Nagar in Sarkhej. Their bodies were shifted to hospital after recovery.
