Three booked for assaulting café employees near Thaltej vegetable market in Ahmedabad
A 26-year-old café employee has lodged a complaint with Bodakdev police alleging that three men assaulted him and his colleague near Thaltej village vegetable market in Ahmedabad on Monday afternoon following an argument over their employment at a local café.
The police have registered a case against a 24-year-old man and two unidentified associates for allegedly assaulting and threatening the employees with dire consequences.
The complaint was filed by one Marunath Sahani, 26, a native of West Bengal who works as a captain at Afro House Café in Thaltej.
The incident occurred at around 3.15 pm when he and his colleague, Jaysingh Rathod, had stepped out for tea near the Rajwadi Chai Ketli stall beneath the Thaltej Gam Metro Station.
Sahani told police that while they were passing near Radhika Central Kitchen close to the Thaltej vegetable market, they were approached by Jay alias Lallo Vikrambhai Datani, a resident of Thaltej village, along with two unidentified men. The trio allegedly questioned the complainant and his colleague about their employment at Afro House Café.
The complaint states that after the two confirmed that they worked at the café, the accused became aggressive, started arguing with them and allegedly hurled abuses. During the altercation, Datani allegedly grabbed Rathod, while one of the unidentified men assaulted him, causing injuries to his elbow and shoulder. The complainant alleged that Rathod sustained bleeding injuries during the attack.
Police said the accused allegedly threatened to kill the complainant and his colleague if they approached the authorities.
Sahani further alleged that after the incident he contacted another colleague, Vikram Gurum, for assistance and returned to his accommodation. However, the three accused allegedly followed them to their residence and continued issuing threats.
Bodakdev police have registered an offence against Jay alias Lallo Vikrambhai Datani and two unidentified men.
Police said efforts are under way to identify and trace the two unknown accused, while further investigation into the circumstances leading to the assault is in progress.
