After allegations of embezzlement surfaced against the Mahudi temple’s management, The Trustee of the Mahudi Jain Shwetambar Murtipujak Trust Sangh has responded to the allegations.

Ankit and Jayesh Mehta had alleged embezzlement of ₹14 crore cash and vanishing of 130 kg gold from the Mahudi temple. However, trustee Bhupendra Vora termed these allegations as defamatory, made-up, and attempting to mislead the devotees.

The temple has decided to challenge the allegations made by the Mehta duo in court.

The temple has reportedly stated that the Mehta duo has made these allegations to defame the temple after being removed from the board of trustees.

The Trust clarified that the misappropriation of money and gold was reported in June 2018, and at the end of a police investigation, no malpractices were found within the Mahudi temple trust.

“The trust is run by devoted volunteers working together. The income and expenses are audited according to rules, leaving no room for malpractice.

“These two, who have lost their place in the temple trust, make such allegations against the Mahudi Sangh, which is the centre of faith of millions of devotees, and also against the volunteers working in it,” said Vora.

Both Jayesh and Ankit Mehta were cancelled permanently from the trust membership on May 26, along with six members who assisted them, according to Vora.

Trustee Bhupendra Vora also alleged that the court had previously remanded Ankit Mehta for four days on the charge of cheating worth crores in the name of upliftment of farmers in Dang.

Vora stated that the temple trust will expose such elements to preserve the faith of the devotees.
