Thieves strike PG house in Thaltej, 6 phones, ₹5,000 stolen while occupants slept

In a case of late-night theft, unidentified persons allegedly broke into a paying guest (PG) accommodation in the Thaltej area of Ahmedabad and stole six mobile phones and cash collectively worth ₹35,500 while the residents were asleep. The theft, which occurred in the early hours of July 6, has been reported at the Bodakdev police station.

The case was lodged by complaint Neeraj Baria (27), a freelance website developer residing at Milan PG Bungalow near Thaltej Post. The incident occurred sometime between 3 am and 9 am. Baria and five other room partners were present in the shared room on the night of July 5. Since the door was latched, but not locked from inside, they believe the thieves took advantage of the unsecured entrance.

Baria stated that he went to bed around 3 am after completing his work. Upon waking around 9 am, he noticed that the main door of their room was ajar. His mobile phone and a purse containing important documents and cash were missing beside his pillow.

He then learned that his five other roommates had also lost their phones. All the phones were reportedly kept beside their pillows while they slept. The total value of stolen items includes ₹30,500 worth of mobile phones and ₹5,000 in cash, amounting to ₹35,500.

Police have registered an FIR against unknown persons under relevant sections of the BNS. Police are likely to scan CCTV footage from the vicinity and question other occupants of the PG to identify potential suspects. No arrests have been made so far.
