Thieves in Ahmedabad’s Income Tax area stole ₹2.3 lakh worth of valuables while the residents were watching TV in the same house on April 30.

According to a complaint filed by 37-year-old Mayank Shah, he and his wife were sitting in a room on the ground floor of their two-storey house watching TV. During this time, the thief broke open the latch of the rear door and accessed the upper floor via the staircase. The room upstairs was mainly used for storage.

When Mayank and his wife heard noises from upstairs, they rushed to check. Upon reaching, they found the iron safe open and items scattered around. The thief had stolen a collection of old currency notes, a gold ladies bracelet, two expensive watches, brass utensils, AC copper pipes, as well as computer and camera wires.

Shah then filed a complaint against unknown persons. According to the complainant, the thief entered by breaking the rear door latch and climbed up to the upper room via the staircase.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation to nab the accused.
