Theft of valuables worth ₹2.87 lakh reported in Ahmedabad BRTS

A total of ₹2.87 lakh worth of valuables were stolen from a widow's purse in Ahmedabad Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) between Kalupur and Shivranjani stations, according to the complaint filed at the Satellite police station.

Kashmira, 58, a resident of Saraspur in Ahmedabad, was travelling to Shivranjani cross road for converting $700 to a money exchange office.

She took an autorickshaw from her home to Kalupur Ghee Bazaar, from where she boarded a BRTS bus. When she arrived at the Shivranjani Cross Roads BRTS, she realised that $700, a gold chain of 20g, her passport, and ₹1.60 lakh in cash, amounting to a total worth of ₹2.87 lakh were stolen with a slit to her purse.

According to the complaint, the money that was stolen was to be sent to her son, Shubham, who lives in Windsor, Canada, since February for his studies.

The Satellite Police has registered a case for the theft of ₹2.87 lakh and have initiated a probe.
