A 35-year-old textile trader was allegedly attacked with a sword and severely beaten by three men after he objected to a car parked on the road in Sardarnagar area.

Ravibhai Shankarlal Goplani, a resident of Sindhi Colony in Sardarnagar, stated that the incident took place at around 1.30 am on June 5 near Rajwadi Tea Stall at Sardarnagar Circle.

Goplani, who runs a textile business at City Center-2 near Raipur Darwaza, was returning home from his uncle’s residence in Vahar Colony when he noticed a Swift car parked on the road. He allegedly asked the occupants to move the vehicle.

Which led to an altercation involving three men identified as Vicky Rajubhai Gedi, a resident of Sardarnagar; Karan Dhanwani of New Maharathi Society, Sardarnagar; and Kamal Kasai of Kubernagar.

The complainant alleged that the trio became enraged and began assaulting him. During the attack, he was allegedly thrown to the ground, kicked and slapped, and dragged along the road while the accused held both his hands. The assault reportedly resulted in a fracture to his right leg.

Goplani further alleged that Vicky Gedi struck him on the left side of his head, above the ear, with a sword, causing a bleeding injury.

Hearing his cries for help, local residents gathered at the spot, prompting the attackers to flee, police said. The injured trader then contacted his relatives, while his father alerted the police control room and emergency medical services.

He was subsequently shifted to the Trauma Ward of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital by a 108 ambulance and is currently undergoing treatment.

Based on Goplani’s complaint, Airport police have registered a case against the three accused for allegedly causing grievous injuries and attacking the victim with a deadly weapon.

Police said further investigation is underway and efforts are being made to apprehend the accused.
