As the government has mandated e-KYC for ration cardholders, many centres in the state are plagued with technical issues with the process leading to long queues.

Teams from the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department have been deployed to ensure that citizens can complete their e-KYC processes.

Considering the long queues and technical issues related to servers and Aadhaar card updates in some districts, the government has planned to operationalize an additional 1,000 Aadhaar kits.

While the e-KYC process is conducted by the Food and Supplies Department, it is entirely dependent on Aadhaar cards. Unless corrections in names/surnames are made in Aadhaar, the e-KYC process cannot be completed.

The department’s minister stated that the number of Aadhaar kits will be increased, and issues related to the kits will be resolved.

A control room has also been set up in Gandhinagar for this purpose. Additionally, district collectors have been instructed to coordinate with post offices and banks to ensure the operationalisation of Aadhaar kits and to monitor the process continuously.

The department claims that 1.38 crore citizens in the state have completed e-KYC from home using the ‘My Ration’ application, while e-KYC for 1.07 crore citizens has been done at the village panchayat level through Village Computer Entrepreneurs (VCE).

Over 2.75 crore citizens have completed e-KYC through various means such as the My Ration app, gram panchayats, public service centres, post offices, banks, and anganwadis.

Currently, 4,376 Aadhaar kits are operational across the state, distributed as follows: 546 at public service centres, 506 in gram panchayats, 226 under the education department, 311 in anganwadis, and 2,787 under post offices and banks.
