Teachers in Jamnagar have been meting out horrifying punishments to students, causing angst among parents. A sports teacher at Swaminarayan Gurukul in Jamnagar chopped a student’s hair with a blade for not applying oil.

A 10-year-old boy studying in Class 4 at Swaminarayan Gurukul did not apply oil to his hair, and the school’s sports teacher cut his hair with a blade.

In a separate incident in the same city, a teacher at Government Navanagar High School chopped the hair of a class 9 student with scissors on September 19.

The student had gone to the school office to provide his parents’ contact number, to inform them of a meeting.

A female teacher sitting in the office told him, “Your hair has grown too long.” The student replied, “I’ll get it cut.” But the teacher decided to take matters into her own hands. She got scissors and cut the student’s front hair. Shocked, the student borrowed someone’s phone and tearfully informed his parents of the incident.

After both incidents, the parents of the students filed complaints with the District Education Officer, demanding action.
