Teachers’ Day protest in Gandhinagar: Candidates raise slogans against BJP

On a day when the country celebrated Teachers’ Day, the Satyagrah Chhavani in Gujarat’s Gandhinagar turned into a protest site as aspiring teachers staged a massive demonstration against the state government.

The candidates raised anti-BJP slogans and voiced anger at Education Minister Kuber Dindor while demanding recruitment on 10,700 vacant teaching posts, implementation of reservation policies, and a halt to the privatisation and commercialisation of education.

Alongside this protest, another group gathered at the venue demanding direct recruitment for permanent positions in subjects like arts, music, physical education, and computer science.

The agitation has also taken a political turn, with AAP’s former leader and Botad MLA Umesh Makwana and Vadgam Congress MLA Jignesh Mevani extended their backing to the protests.
