A 21-year-old server was allegedly assaulted with an iron rod by three men near Palladium Mall in what appears to be a fallout of an earlier altercation involving his elder brother.

The complainant, Anil Rajkishore Mahato, a resident of Elora Apartments, Thaltej, works as a server at the Taco Bell restaurant located on the fifth floor of Palladium Mall. In his complaint filed with the Vastrapur police, Mahato stated that around 11 pm on 21 May, while stepping out for tea during his shift, he was confronted by three men identified as Rahul Yadav, Jitendra Yadav, and Vishnu Sada. Mahato claimed he does not know their full names or addresses.

The trio allegedly began hurling abuses and questioned him about a previous dispute involving his elder brother, Santosh Mahato. When Anil attempted to defuse the situation, the men turned violent. One of the accused, Rahul Yadav, allegedly returned with an iron rod and struck Anil twice on the right shoulder. The others also beat him with sticks, said the complaint.

The accused allegedly warned Mahato not to interfere in the matters between them and his brother. The assault ended when the restaurant’s manager, Abhishek Rawat, intervened and stopped the attackers.

Mahato sustained injuries to his shoulder and later approached the Vastrapur police station. Based on his statement, police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for assault, criminal intimidation, and use of abusive language. Further investigation is underway to trace the full identities and whereabouts of the accused.
