Swine flu on the rise: Ahmedabad reports five case in a week

A significant increase in the cases of the swine flu was reported in Ahmedabad. Out of 14 suspected swine flu cases at Sola Civil Hospital, five patients tested positive last week.

Last year, 212 cases of swine flu were reported in Gujarat and 3 patients lost their lives to the disease. Between 2019 and 2023, a total of 7,318 cases of swine flu have been reported in Gujarat, taking 229 lives.

At Sola Civil Hospital, one positive case of swine flu was reported from Feb 12-18, another was reported from Feb 19-25, and in the following week (Feb 26-Mar 3), the number of positive cases rose to three. This took the active cases in the hospital to 15, in a span of two months.

Mild flashes of cold late at night and heat during the day are resulting in the number of patients with viral infections, colds, and coughs. 1,624 cases of viral infection have been reported in one week at Sola Civil.

3,266 patients of viral infection have been registered in 12 days from Feb 26 to Mar 10. An increase in cold-cough-fever cases from the mixed season has resulted in more than 230 cases of viral infections at the hospital daily.
