Sweeper steals ₹90,000 from Ahmedabad hospital on first day at job, absconds

A shocking theft case has been reported from the Nikol area of Ahmedabad, where a newly hired sweeper allegedly stole ₹90,000 from a hospital’s medical store on his very first day of work and then fled.
As per reports, the man was hired by the hospital on April 17, 2026. He had told the staff that he would submit his identity proof the next day. Trusting his words, the hospital allowed him to start working in the night shift the same day.
The incident came to light on the morning of April 18, when the pharmacy staff arrived for duty. They found the drawer lock broken and items scattered inside the medical store. This raised suspicion, and the matter was immediately checked.
CCTV footage from the hospital showed the accused entering the medical store around 5:15 am using the flashlight of his mobile phone. He was clearly seen breaking the drawer lock and taking out cash kept inside. After checking records, it was confirmed that ₹90,000 was missing.
Following this, the hospital doctor filed a complaint at the local police station. Based on CCTV footage and available evidence, police have started an investigation and launched a search operation to catch the accused.
However, the case has become more challenging because the accused had not submitted any identity proof before joining the job. Police are now trying to trace him through CCTV and other possible leads.
