Swaroopji Thakor set to take oath as MLA on December 10

The Vav assembly elected party leader, Swaroopji Thakor, is set to take the oath as MLA likely next week.The election results for the Vav constituency of Banaskantha were declared on November 23.
Swaroopji Thakor from the BJP won the elections with a lead of 2,000 votes.Now, he is set to take the oath on December 10.
In the Vav bypoll, after the 24th round of counting on November 23, BJP’s Swaroopji Thakor received 92,129 votes, Congress candidate Gulabsingh Rajput got 89,693 votes, and independent candidate Mavji Patel received 27,183 votes. BJP candidate Swaroopji Thakor won by a margin of 2,436 votes.
Swaroopji Thakor is a resident of the Biyok village in Vav taluka. He has also served as the regional vice president of the Thakor Sena. In 2019, Swaroopji Thakor contested the Lok Sabha elections from the Banaskantha seat as an independent candidate, securing 48,634 votes.
This victory marks BJP’s third win in the history of this seat. Throughout the counting, Congress’s lead seemed to grow after each round. However, in the last three rounds, the Congress candidate’s lead quickly dwindled. During the 14th round, Congress’s Rajput had a substantial lead of 14,102 votes.
With the saffron party’s win, the number of BJP MLAs has increased to 162 and Congress being at only 12.
