Surat’s company manufactures the critical component ‘squib’ for Chandrayaan-3
Squibs prevent the wiring from catching flames at a temperature of 3000° C
ISRO updated the launch for July 14 at 2:35 p.m.

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is all set for the historical launch of Chandrayaan-3 on July 14 from Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. A Surat company named Himson Industrial Ceramic has made a notable contribution by making a critical part used in Chandrayaan-3.
The company has been manufacturing 'squibs' for ISRO for the past 30 years. The same squibs had been used in the Chandrayaan-2 mission too.
What are squibs?
During the launch of any craft with rocket technology, the rear part is hotter than 3000°C. To prevent the heat from damaging the wiring, a special ignition cover, squib, is placed over it so that the flames of the blast do not affect the craft.
The director of the manufacturing company, Nimesh Surajram Bachkaniwala, said that the company has been manufacturing essential ceramic parts for ISRO since 1994. He further added that they supplied this part for Chandrayaan-2 as well.
