Surat SOG nabs four fake quacks with Std 10, 12, and BA qualifications

Surat Special Operation Group (SOG) teams arrested four fake doctors from different locations. Three fake doctors—one with education up to Std 10, another up to Std 12, and one who studied up to BA were apprehended from an industrial area in Tatithaiya of Palsana taluka in Surat. Umarpada police nabbed a 51-year-old man running a clinic without any valid degree or certificate, claiming to have studied naturopathy and electro-homeopathy.
Based on a tip-off, the Surat district SOG team, accompanied by Medical Officer Dr Sachin Patel from the Gangadhara Primary Health Centre, raided Om Clinic located in Soni Park-01, Tatithaiya village.
They found Saurabh Shyamal Biswas practicing as a doctor without any recognised medical degree—he had studied up to BA. He admitted to having previously worked in a medical store and gaining two years of experience at various clinics before starting his own clinic six months ago. The police arrested him and seized medical equipment and medicines worth ₹9,802.
Subsequently, the team raided another Om Clinic in Soni Park-02 and caught Milan Makhumlal Biswas practicing medicine. He had studied only up to Std 10. After working for two years in a clinic in his hometown, he had been running this clinic for a year, prescribing medicines to patients. The police arrested him and seized material worth ₹4,391.
Police inspected Sikdar Clinic, where they found Prashanjit Shanta Sikdar who had studied up to Std 12. He had worked for three years in various hospitals in his hometown and was now illegally practicing medicine based on that experience. He was arrested, and items worth ₹13,895 were seized. Cases were filed against all three under the Gujarat Medical Practices Act.
At Aastha Clinic near the three-way junction in Umarpada, the Umarpada Primary Health Centre Medical Officer Dr Sudhir Ambika Prasad and Supervisor Sunil Ramsingbhai Chaudhary conducted a raid.
They found Kantilal Damjibhai Vasava sitting with a desk and chair. Upon requesting his certifications and license to practice as a doctor, Kantilal admitted he had none.
Upon further questioning, it was revealed that he had studied up to Std 12 (Science stream) and had practiced for a year in Navsari. He had also studied in naturopathy and electro-homeopathy and had been running the clinic for about a year. The police seized medicines and equipment worth ₹5,243 and filed a case under the Gujarat Medical Practices Act, arresting Kantilal and initiating further legal procedures.
