Surat bus falls in pothole near Pandesara, 7 injured

A city bus carrying several passengers met with an accident on Monday morning in the Ganeshnagar area of Pandesara, located in the Udhna zone of Surat.

The bus fell into a large pothole on the road after heavy rainfall, leaving seven passengers injured. All injured passengers were immediately taken to the Civil Hospital for treatment. The front of the bus was badly damaged with the windshield cracked due to the impact.

According to locals, the deep pothole was waterlogged after continuous rain in the morning, making the pothole invisible to the drive.

Officials said that the injuries ranged from minor to moderate, and no fatalities were reported. 

Following the incident, the locals strongly criticised the condition of the road. They said the surface had recently undergone repair work, but the road appears to have weakened after the first heavy rain. Residents claim that poor-quality materials and lack of proper supervision was responsible for the road damage.

Authorities are expected to inspect the damaged road and take corrective action, but residents are demanding a long-term solution instead of temporary repairs.
