Subhash Bridge reconstruction: AMC announces road closure, alternate routes
Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has started the reconstruction and demolition work of Subhash Bridge over the Sabarmati River. The bridge is located in the western zone of Ahmedabad, and the repair work is currently in progress.
According to AMC officials, the Riverfront road on the eastern side has been completely closed for all vehicles from Sheetal Aqua apartments to ISKCON Riverside apartments. The decision has been taken to avoid any accident or inconvenience during the demolition work of the bridge.
Along with the road closure, the Lower Promenade (walkway) of the riverfront located in front of Subhash Bridge has also been closed for pedestrians and visitors until the work is fully completed.
For the convenience of citizens, AMC has announced alternate traffic routes. Motorists travelling from Sheetal Aqua can move towards the right-side road and continue towards the riverfront through the alternative route.
Similarly, commuters coming from the ISKCON Riverside can use the left-side road connecting towards the Riverfront area.
AMC has informed that the restrictions may continue until the demolition and reconstruction work is completed successfully. Commuters using the riverfront route regularly have been advised to plan their travel in advance and expect possible delays during peak traffic hours.
Authorities have appealed to citizens to cooperate with the traffic arrangements and follow instructions issued by traffic police. People have also been advised to avoid unnecessary travel near the Subhash Bridge area and use alternative roads to prevent traffic crowds.
Officials said that emergency services and local access routes have been kept operational during the repair work so that residents living near the area do not face major difficulties. Barricades and warning signs have also been installed around the construction site to ensure smooth traffic management and public safety.
