Students protest at Gandhinagar Samras Hostel over alleged duplicate paneer, poor kitchen cleanliness

Students of Samras Hostel, located in Sector 15 of Gujarat’s capital Gandhinagar, created a ruckus after allegedly being served duplicate paneer during dinner. The hostel is run under the Social Justice and Empowerment Department of the Gujarat government.
For a long time, students had been raising concerns regarding the quality of food served at the Samras Hostel. The issue escalated on Tuesday when students noticed that the paneer served during dinner was allegedly fake. Angered by the incident, students stormed into the hostel kitchen and raised slogans, demanding immediate action.
Students alleged that the paneer was of substandard and duplicate quality and unfit for consumption. During the protest, they also claimed that the kitchen was unhygienic, filthy, and that proper cleanliness was not being maintained. According to the students, repeated complaints regarding food quality and sanitation had been ignored by the hostel management.
Raising slogans inside the kitchen premises, students confronted the operators managing the kitchen and demanded accountability. They warned that no student would tolerate such poor-quality food being served in a government-run hostel.
Samras hostels are operated under the budget and supervision of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department of the Gujarat government, where large contracts are awarded for providing food. The incident has once again raised serious questions about food quality, hygiene, and monitoring mechanisms in government-run hostels.
