Updated: Oct 1st, 2024
Students of Prerna Vidyalaya in Aravalli staged protests today after a Class 12 student from the school died by suicide on September 29.
The students alleged that Dipak Vanzara, whose body was found near the Hathmati Dam, took the drastic step due to torture by a teacher.
Dipak went to school on the morning of September 29 but did not return home. Concerned about his absence, his parents and the police initiated a search. Vanzara’s Activa scooter and schoolbag were found near Hathmati Dam. The police then informed the fire department, which conducted a 17-hour search operation, ultimately recovering his body.
Following the incident today, around 500 students from Prerna Vidhyalaya marched to Bhiloda Police Station, demanding justice for Vanzara. They accused teacher K D Budharani of torturing Vanzara since 11th grade, which they believe led to his suicide. The students called for the suspension of the teacher and chanted slogans such as “Justice for Dipak” and “Suspend the Teacher”.
The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and further investigation is underway. The police and school authorities are also looking into the allegations made by the students.
