Tension gripped Gothaj village in Mahemdavad taluka of Kheda district after a violent clash broke out between two groups belonging to the same community on Friday. The confrontation escalated into large-scale stone-pelting, leaving more than eight people injured.

According to preliminary reports, over 50 individuals from both sides were involved in the skirmish, which erupted following a dispute whose cause is yet to be officially confirmed. As the confrontation intensified, both groups allegedly hurled stones at each other, creating panic in the area.

A local resident captured video footage of the incident on a mobile phone, which later circulated on social media and helped authorities identify some of those involved.

Police sources said that at least eight people sustained minor injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment. Law enforcement personnel were deployed to the village soon after the incident to bring the situation under control.

The Kheda district police have initiated proceedings to register offences against members of both groups. “Efforts are underway to identify all individuals involved in the incident,” an official said, adding that additional security measures are in place to prevent further escalation. An investigation is ongoing to determine the exact cause of the conflict.
