In light of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, a training workshop was organised for the district development officers (DDOs) of Gujarat on Feb 28, chaired by chief electoral officer (CEO) P Bharathi.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has set limits on several expenses made during elections by the parties.
CEO Bharathi directed the appointment of the state’s DDOs as district nodal officers for maintaining accounts and monitoring these expenses.
For this, they underwent extensive training on various IT platforms prepared by the ECI for excise, Income Tax, and expenditure-related operations.
IT experts from the CEO’s office provided the training for these platforms.
The state’s nodal officer of the excise department, Narasimha Komar; additional CEO, Kuldeep Arya; nodal officer of Income Tax, Pooja Parekh; and national-level master trainer, Dr Supria Ganguly, conducted the workshop and provided guidance and training for smooth, transparent, and fair conduct of elections.
Moreover, DDOs have also been entrusted with the responsibility of Turnout Implementation Plan (TIP) nodal officers for implementing voter turnout across the state, as per the instructions of the ECI. Special guidance was provided for this by CEO Bharathi.
