Sri Lanka will soon introduce direct flights to Gujarat, the country’s tourism minister has reportedly announced, in a move aimed at strengthening the tourism and economic ties with India. The flights will connect from Colombo to Ahmedabad, Gujarat, and are expected to commence later this year.

Reports note that the flights will be operated by SriLankan Airlines, as a part of a broader strategy to enhance regional air connectivity. India remains one of the largest tourism sources for Sri Lanka.

This will not only be beneficial to leisure travelers but also to the business and pilgrim travellers. Gujarat is home to several religious and cultural landmarks, making it an important destination for Sri Lankan travellers as well.

Tourism authorities expect the launch of the direct flight to support stronger bilateral relations, encourage trade, and promote cultural exchange between the two regions.
