One person was killed and three others sustained serious injuries after a speeding SUV collided head-on with a Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) bus on the Vaishnodevi Bridge on SG Highway in Ahmedabad late on Saturday night.

The impact of the crash was so severe that the SUV, a Toyota Fortuner, was completely mangled, with debris scattered across the bridge. Disturbing CCTV footage of the incident, which has since surfaced, shows the car hurtling at high speed before slamming into the oncoming bus, triggering panic among motorists and pedestrians in the area.

According to preliminary information, the Fortuner was travelling at a very high speed when the driver apparently lost control near the bridge curve and crashed into the ST bus coming from the opposite direction. The collision caused extensive damage to the front portions of both vehicles.

Police said one of the occupants of the car died on the spot, while three others were rushed to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. Several passengers travelling in the bus sustained minor injuries and were given first aid.

Emergency response teams, including police and ambulance services, reached the spot soon after the accident and carried out rescue operations. Traffic on the Vaishnodevi Bridge was disrupted for a considerable time as authorities cleared the wreckage and restored normal movement.

Police have registered a case of accidental death and are examining the CCTV footage to determine the exact sequence of events. Preliminary findings suggest overspeeding as the primary cause of the accident, though officials said further investigation is underway.
