Speeding car mows down three, including two siblings in Surat

Three persons were killed after a speeding car driver rammed two motorcycles one after the other near Laskana Char Rasta in Surat on Sunday evening. The car flipped over following the crash. The two motorcyclists lost their lives, while a young woman riding pillion sustained serious injuries and was rushed to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries after brief treatment. The police have registered a case against the car driver and initiated probe. 

As per reports, 35-year-old Rajesh Gajera, a resident of Opera House on Nansad Road in Kamrej, and his sibling Shobha were travelling on a motorcycle for work on Sunday evening. 

At the time, near Laskana Police Chowki crossroads, a car driver crashed into their motorcycle. Moreover, another motorcyclist, Mahesh Lathiya (48), resident of Matru Shakti Society, Punagam), was also hit by the same car. Following this, the car overturned and collided with the divider.  

Rajesh and Mahesh, who sustained severe injuries, were taken to SMIMER Hospital in a 108 ambulance, where the doctors on duty declared them brought dead. 

Meanwhile, Rajesh’s seriously injured sister was admitted to a private hospital, where she succumbed on Monday after brief treatment. 

Rajesha, a native of Savarkundla in Amreli, was travelling from Kamrej to Mota Varachha with his sister when the accident occurred. 

The other victim, Mahesh, was a native of Bagdana in Bhavnagar. On Sunday evening, he was riding his motorcycle home from Diamond Nagar in Laskana when he met with an accident.

Locals rescued the car driver, Arjun Virani (34), resident of Mamta Park Society, Kapodra), from the overturned vehicle and handed him over to the police. The car driver works as an accountant. Laskana police have registered a case against him and have started further proceedings.
