Special NDPS court sentences man caught with 33 grams of MD for 7 years imprisonment

A Special NDPS Court in Ahmedabad has sentenced one Ilyas Moyuddin Sheikh to 7 years of imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹1 lakh, after finding him guilty of being caught with 33.870 grams of MD drugs in 2023.

Special Judge V B Rajput delivered the judgment, acquitting another accused in the case due to lack of evidence.

During the trial, the court examined the case evidence, witness statements, police investigation papers and the before convicting the accused and pronouncing the punishment.

According to submissions made by additional public prosecutor D M Thakor, the City Crime Branch had received specific information. On 26 May 2023, based on that information, a special watch was kept near Tulsi Restaurant on the public road from Narol Circle towards Danilimda. 

At that time, the accused Sheikh came on his Splendor motorcycle, and when he was searched, he was caught red-handed with 33.870 grams of MD drugs.

Crime Branch officials had registered an NDPS offence against him and conducted further investigation.
