Special court orders action against two Ahmedabad police officers for investigation lapses

A special court in Ahmedabad has issued directions for action against two police officers for negligence in investigating cases from two different police stations. The court found that the officers failed to properly document key witness statements, including the testimony of a minor victim, which is a crucial part of legal procedures.
During the hearing, the court observed that the investigating officers did not record the victim’s statement as required by law, which could affect the fairness of the trial. Additionally, there were discrepancies in case documentation, leading to suspicion of negligence or deliberate mishandling.
The court took strict notice of these lapses and said that investigating officers must adhere to proper legal procedures to ensure justice is served.
As part of its directive, the court has ordered that both officers remain present throughout the trial and fully cooperate with the legal process. It also warned that any attempt to manipulate case records or delay proceedings could lead to further legal action against them. The court stressed that law enforcement officers have a duty to conduct investigations fairly and transparently, without any procedural lapses.
