Monsoon has withdrawn in many regions, yet Gujarat continues to experience wet weather, particularly in Bhavnagar and Surat districts.
According to the State Emergency Operation Centre, Mahuva Taluka in Bhavnagar and Palsana Taluka in Surat recorded nearly 3 inches of rain, while Umarpada registered 2 inches in the last 12 hours. In total, 42 talukas across the state experienced rainfall on Monday.
Sagbara in Narmada district and Bharuch also recorded more than 1 inch of rainfall. A low-pressure system has formed in the Bay of Bengal, which could lead to heavy rainfall in the state during Navratri.
Many areas may experience thunderstorm activity along with wind gusts of 30 to 40 kilometres per hour. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert, predicting heavy rainfall in Bharuch, Narmada, Tapi, Navsari, and Valsad districts of South Gujarat. Residents and Navratri organisers have been advised to remain vigilant over the next 24 hours.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected in Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Panchmahal, and Chhotaudepur, too.
