SOG crime branch arrests three with mephedrone worth nearly ₹11 Lakh

The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Ahmedabad City Crime Branch has arrested three individuals and seized 109 grams and 710 milligrams of mephedrone, estimated to be worth ₹10.97 lakh . The arrests were made as part of the state’s intensified crackdown on repeat offenders under the NDPS Act.

The operation was carried out to monitor and frequently check individuals previously arrested in NDPS cases.

On May 29, acting on technical surveillance and human intelligence gathered through informants, SOG officials had up a tab on Moin Iqbal Hussain Dhallawala, a known offender previously arrested under the NDPS Act. Upon reaching the suspect’s residence at Gulmohar Apartment, Danilimda, police found Dhallawala attempting to flee along with an accomplice. Both were apprehended on suspicion.

The accused have been identified as–

1. Moin alias Iqbal Hussain Dhallawala (29), a labourer residing in Jamalpur.

2. Nadeem alias Asif Mohammad Farooq Syed (32), a rickshaw driver resident of Danilimda.

A subsequent search at the residence led to the recovery of mephedrone, along with drug paraphernalia including syringes for MD drug use, a weighing fork, and small and large plastic zipper bags.

Further investigation revealed that the drugs had been procured by a third suspect, Mohammad Aarif  Mohammad Sheikh (40), a labourer residing in  Danilimda. In total, ₹10.97 lakh  worth of contraband and paraphernalia were seized during the operation.

The police have registered a case under various Sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at DCB Police Station. 

VH Joshi, Police inspector of SOG, stated that all three accused have been taken into custody and further legal action is underway.
