SOG busts illegal gas refilling scam in Godhra, three arrested

In a major action, the Special Operations Group (SOG) raided an illegal gas refilling operation in Gujarat’s Godhra in Panchmahal district, and arrested three people. Police also seized goods worth ₹87,600 from spot.

The raid was conducted after police received a tip-off about the illegal refilling of cooking gas from large cylinders into small cylinders without following safety rules. Acting quickly, the SOG team carried out a surprise raid and caught accused redhanded. 

During this operation, police found large commercial and domestic gas cylinders, pipes, and nozzles for transferring gas and other equipment and vehicles. All these were being used for illegal activities.

According to police, accused were running this illegal operation without any license or safety equipments. This could have caused a serious accident, especially in residential areas.

A case has been registered at Godhra Town B Division Police Station under relevant sections of the law. Police are now investigating the supply chain and whether more people are involved in this scam.
