SMC cop death: Ahmedabad police nabs trailer driver from Rajasthan

In the recent update on the death of Gandhinagar State Monitoring Cell (SMC) Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) J M Pathan on November 4 in Surendranagar, during his duty, the trailer driver has been apprehended from Rajasthan, and an inquiry is currently underway.

The trailer involved in the accident has also been seized, which was driven by another driver in West Bengal by another driver. A team has been sent to West Bengal for further investigation.

Apart from the trailer, the bootlegger’s car, which was chased by the SMC, was also involved in the fatal accident.

Following the incident, a search for both the trailer and the car was launched, with eight teams being formed by the Surendranagar police. The case was later transferred to the Ahmedabad Local Crime Branch (LCB).

With the help of CCTV footage, technical analysis, and human intelligence, Ahmedabad police were able to locate and apprehend the suspect trailer driver, Mangaram, from Rajasthan. 

What was the incident?

PSI J M Pathan lost his life on November 5, while in pursuit of a vehicle suspected to be involved in illegal liquor transport.

The fatal accident occurred on the Dasada-Patdi road near Kathada village around 2.30 am, as the PSI and his team attempted to intercept the suspects.
