Sluggish water purity testing in Gujarat: Only 1.52 lakh samples collected last year
In one year, the Gujarat government collected only 1.52 lakh water samples from across the state. Gujarat is lagging behind in water purity testing and does not even appear in the top 15 states for water testing.
In 2023-24, Gujarat collected 1,52,507 water samples, of which 14,922 were found to be polluted. Out of the 14,922 polluted samples, measures were taken for 13,838 samples as per the state government.
Waterborne diseases are on the rise in Gujarat, but regular water testing across Gujarat still seems far-fetched idea
States like Bihar, Assam, Jharkhand, and Jammu & Kashmir are among those collecting the highest number of water samples, while Gujarat lags far behind.
