Six new DEO offices approved in Gujarat, Ahmedabad unit split into two

In a major step to make education management more efficient and organised, the Gujarat Government’s Education Department has approved the creation of six new District Education Officer (DEO) offices.
The decision, formalised through a resolution dated November 17, aims to ease administrative load, improve monitoring of schools, and ensure smoother day-to-day functioning across districts.
Under this restructuring, new DEO offices will be set up in Anjar (Kutch), Ahmedabad City (East), Vadodara (Rural), Rajkot (Rural), Surat (Rural), and Gandhinagar (Rural). Along with these new offices, the government has approved the required administrative framework and staffing arrangements.
The Education Department has divided the current jurisdictions of Kutch, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Gandhinagar, Rajkot, and Surat to create new, smaller, and more manageable units.
Each new office will be headed by a Class-1 DEO, while Class-2, 3, and 4 staffers will be transferred from the existing workforce to fill the necessary positions.
