Siren installations, mock drills at these 10 locations in Ahmedabad on May 7, check timings

Ahmedabad is all set to witness a historic mock drill on Wednesday after over 40 years. As per a statement released by the Gujarat government, the mock drill will be held between 4 to 8 pm.

In a letter from the local Civil Defence and District Magistrate Office, a total of 10 locations have been identified for the mock drills. Sirens will be buzzing on Wednesday followed by a blackout between 7.30 and 8 pm.

Apna Bazaar, Lal Darwaja

Sindhu Bhavan Road

Jagannath Mandir

GMDC building, Vastrapur

YMCA, SG Highway

RTO office, Shahibaug

Ankur School, Paldi

Diwan Ballubhai Madhyamik Shala, Kankaria

AMC office, Danapith

Memnagar Fire Station

More than 57,000 personnel and volunteers in Gujarat are set to take part in a large-scale civil defence mock drill on Wednesday, following a directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to bolster emergency preparedness.

Around 18 cities in Gujarat are set to witness mock drills from 4 to 8 pm on Wednesday. As per reports, there will be a complete blackout from 7.30 to 8 pm.

A mock drill will be conducted across Gujarat in cities including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Bhavnagar, Surat, Navsari, Narmada, Kutch, Bharuch, Naliya, Kandla, Okha, Vadinar, and Ankleshwar.

The drill comes against the backdrop of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan after the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
