Silver ornaments stolen from Jagatpur home

A 32-year-old driver from Jagatpur has filed a police complaint after silver ornaments worth nearly ₹71,000 were allegedly stolen from his rented home while he was away at work.

The theft took place between 4 am on September 20 and 6 pm on September 21, when an unidentified burglar is believed to have broken open the iron safe in the living room and escaped with the valuables, the complaint states.

Complainant Omkarnath Sukhnath Jogi, a native of Girdharpura village in Rajasthan and currently residing in Vande Mataram Road, Jagatpur, told police that he left home early on September 20 to transport goods to Mundra Port in Kutch in his pickup truck. His wife Mahima Kumari and their three children — sons Gopalnath (10), Manishnath (8) and Hiteshnath (4) — remained at home.

Omkarnath returned around 8 am the next day and, after resting, discovered the theft when his wife went to place a silver ring back in the safe around 6 pm. “She found the locker broken, the contents scattered and several items of silver jewellery missing,” the complaint states.

The stolen ornaments include:

  • A silver kandora (waist belt) weighing about 1 kg, valued at around ₹60,000;
  • A pair of silver anklets weighing about 143 g, worth approximately ₹8,000;
  • Two silver hand rings valued at ₹300;
  • Six silver toe rings estimated at ₹2,000; and
  • Two silver bracelets weighing about 10 g, worth about ₹600.

The total value of the stolen silver jewellery is pegged at ₹70,900.

Police said a case of theft has been registered against unidentified persons and an investigation is under way. A copy of the FIR has been provided to the complainant.
