Shocking details surface in petition against Cadila Pharma head
The woman was hired as a flight attendant , but was made butler cum personal assistant
The petition filed by the Bulgarian-origin woman against Rajiv Modi, the chairman and managing director of Cadila Pharmaceuticals, revealed shocking details about the acts of harassment by Modi.
In her petition filed in the Gujarat High Court, the woman has accused Modi of harassing more women, just not her. She claimed that five more women have suffered the same fate as her, however, they have been silent for one reason or another.
The woman also claimed that she had a call recording of an officer from the foreigner’s regional registration office (FRRO) admitting to Rajiv Modi’s questionable acts.
Shocking revelations in petition
The woman was hired by Johnson Matthew, according to the petition filed by her. It reveals that she was hired as a flight attendant first, but was made butler cum personal assistant without any reason.
Her petition reveals that during her tenure, she was required to travel with Modi. On the very first such business trip, Modi had commented how she was shy and should be ‘free’. The petition also stated that during that journey, Modi was in a room alone with another flight attendant.
After that, Modi’s absurd gestures and demands started. She was called into a room where Modi allegedly sat in an objectionable manner, and frequent physical harassment and obscenity became a part of her routine, she states.
All the incidents, with dates and venues, have been mentioned by the woman in the petition.
The woman has claimed that she had to tolerate all of this as she was a foreigner and was strictly told not to leave her residence.
Further, the woman accused Matthew of forcing her into signing the retraction of the complaints she made against Modi at the Vastrapur Mahila police station.
She claimed that even the police officials at the Mahila police station know about this, and she has asked the court to look into the CCTV footage of the police station.
The petition also claimed that the case she presented against the magistrate was handled by a male judge, and she was subjected to inappropriate questioning during the trial.
Moreover, her modesty was hurt as videos of her trial were shot by those who were present at the trial.
Rajiv Modi’s troubled past with women
In Oct 2018, Rajiv Modi and his wife Monica settled for the divorce, with Modi paying her ex-wife ₹200 cr as a one-time alimony. The custody of their then-17-year-old son was handed to Rajiv Modi.
According to sources, Modi’s ex-wife has registered a complaint of domestic violence and adultery against Modi at Ahmedabad’s Sola police station.
However, senior lawyers from both sides had rushed to the police station late that night, and a settlement was reached.

The writ petition filed by the woman consisted of an application asking the police to book Modi under sections 376, 354, 323, 504, and 506 (sexual harassment, assault on woman’s modesty, intentional insult, and criminal intimidation).
