The Shastri Bridge connecting Narol Junction to Vishala Circle in Ahmedabad will remain closed for the next seven months for heavy vehicles.

According to a report by the Highway Authority, bearings and pedestal rods on one side of the bridge have deteriorated, making immediate repairs necessary. Traffic Police Commissioner G S Malik has issued a notification stating that the bridge will be shut from August 9, to February 8, 2026.

Heavy vehicles coming from Narol will be diverted via Pirana Circle, Behrampura, Ambedkar Bridge, and Anjali Circle. The bridge handles thousands of vehicles daily, and the side that remains open has already been under heavy strain.

Notably, in December 2023, one part of the bridge was closed for four months, but the complete repairs have still not been completed.
