Shala Praveshotsav 2025-26 to flag off in state from June 26

The 2025-26 ‘Shala Praveshotsav’ (School Enrollment Drive) will begin across the state from June 26 to June 28.
“This programme will be conducted in all government primary schools, government and grant-in-aid secondary and higher secondary schools, Gyanshakti residential schools, and Raksha Shakti schools across the state,” said spokesperson Rushikesh Patel on Tuesday.
According to Patel, the dropout rate in schools has significantly decreased. In the year 2001-02, the dropout rate from Class 1 to 5 was 20.50%, and from Class 1 to 8, it was 37.22%.
By the academic year 2023-24, these rates had reduced to 1.07% and 2.42% respectively.
During the Shala Praveshotsav, students will be enrolled in Anganwadi, Balvatika, Class 1 (for children who did not enroll last year), as well as in Class 9 and Class 11. A detailed plan has also been prepared for school visits by officials and dignitaries.
To ensure the identification, tracking, and enrollment of every eligible child into Class 1 (from 2019-20) and Balvatika (from 2023-24), the state’s health department’s birth and vaccination data has been integrated with the education department’s Child Tracking System (CTS).
Using this system, a survey has identified around 8.75 lakh children eligible for Balvatika enrollment. Similarly, 10.50 lakh children will be enrolled in Class 9 and 4.50 lakh in Class 11.
Vidya Samiksha Kendra will address the students identified who have a high risk of dropping out. These students and their parents will be specially invited during the Praveshotsav to help them understand the importance of completing school education for the child’s development and progress.
