The Shahibaug underpass will be closed for traffic at night for six days starting Friday due to bullet train construction work. This is the third time in one month that the underpass is being shut, causing problems for daily commuters.

According to the administration, the underpass will remain closed from 11 pm to 6 am between January 30 and February 4. The closure is required for installing bullet train segments on pillars, leveling work, and other technical tasks.

Earlier, the underpass was closed from January 23 to January 28 for the same bullet train work. It was reopened just two days ago, much earlier than the scheduled time. However, within a short gap, the authorities have announced another closure, which has confused and frustrated motorists.

Traffic problems are expected to increase as Subhash Bridge is already closed. Due to this vehicle pressure rises on Delhi Darwaza, Dadhichi Bridge, and Gandhi Bridge during night hours.

To manage traffic, vehicles going towards Delhi Darwaza and Subhas Bridge will be diverted via the Riverfront route. Traffic moving toward Airport and Gandhinagar can also use this route. Another alternative route has been arranged from Gayatri Mandir to Army Cantonment for vehicles traveling from (Girdharnagar Asarwa to Gandhinagar) Airport.

Due to frequent changes in the closure schedule of the Shahibaug underpass, many drivers are facing confusion and inconvenience.
