Seventh Day school issued show-cause notice after student murder incident

Four days after the incident in which a Class 10 student was murdered inside the Seventh Day Adventist School, the state government has finally moved to initiate action. The Ahmedabad City District Education Officer (DEO) has served a show-cause notice to the school, asking why its government recognition and the NOC granted for ICSE Board affiliation should not be canceled.

The DEO had earlier issued a notice on the day of the incident itself, demanding an explanation, but the school has not provided any clarification till now. Acting on state government orders, a fresh notice has now been issued, and the school has been given three days to respond. The notice has also been pasted on the school’s main gate.

Officials warned that if the school fails to reply within the stipulated time, the government will proceed with the appropriate action.

While the DEO has already submitted a report citing serious negligence, the Education Department has not yet written to the ICSE Board regarding cancellation of the school’s affiliation.
