Seventh Day School murder DEO demands BU permission supporting documents

Ten days after a Class 8 student killed a Class 10 student at Seventh Day Adventist School in Ahmedabad's Khokhra, the district education officer has directed the school to submit BU permission, recognition papers, and all other supporting documents.

Earlier, Ahmedabad (city) DEO Rohit Chaudhari had issued two show-cause notices to the school and asked the school management to explain why its recognition/NOC should not be cancelled. Despite the school management members personally meeting with the DEO, their clarifications were not accepted.

The DEO directed the school to dismiss the negligent principal and staff involved in the incident.

Ahmedabad City DEO has notified the school management demanding the following documents:

  • Certified copies of approvals for running Classes 1–12
  • Certified copies of permissions for class expansion
  • Copy of the NOC obtained from Gujarat Government for ICSE board affiliation
  • BU permission and approval letters for the school
  • Certified copies of ownership or rental agreements of the school building and playground
  • Floor-wise sanctioned building maps approved by the authority
  • Trust deed of the school
  • Copy of the school’s PTR (Pupil–Teacher Ratio) records
  • ICSE affiliation certificate
  • Fire NOC for all school buildings
  • Class-wise student strength in all running standards
  • List of teachers with their qualifications
  • Details of teachers’ salaries with account numbers
  • Recognition documents of colleges running inside the school campus
  • NOC taken (if any) from ICSE Board or Gujarat Board for colleges functioning in the campus

The school has been strictly ordered to submit all this information by Friday. Meanwhile, based on the DEO’s earlier orders, the process of dismissing the principal and security/administrative staff has already begun, and a new principal may be appointed soon.

A total of 110 withdrawal applications were received from parents willing to admit their children to other schools. Out of these, 32 student transfers have nearly been completed, and students have been shifted to other schools. Their leaving certificates (LC) and transfer certificates are being processed.
