The Seventh Day Adventist School's management has filed a petition in the Gujarat High Court challenging the school's administration takeover by the Education department.

The decision through an official resolution by the Education Department, comes nearly four months after a Class 10 student was fatally stabbed outside the school premises, prompting widespread protests and scrutiny.

Ahmedabad District Education Officer (DEO) Rohit Chaudhary has been appointed as the administrator of the institution. DEO Rohit Chaudhary stated that the takeover was due to the school's alleged negligence and non-compliance, including the lack of a valid minority status certificate, which resulted in non-admission of students under the Right to Education (RTE) Act.

The academic activities will continue in school without disruption. The same teachers will impart education, and parents need not worry about their children's studies," Chaudhary assured. He added that there would be no immediate changes to the fee structure and that the government would abide by any orders from the high court.

As per the resolution, no new admissions will be allowed during this period, but currently enrolled students can continue their education uninterrupted.

The move stems from an inquiry committee's findings after the August stabbing incident, which highlighted several violations. The school was widely known for providing affordable, quality education to children from poor and middle-class families in the locality.
